10 Lessons from writing 10 blog posts in the past 2 months

  1. It’s a lot of fun to publish a new article every week. Try to
find joy in publishing instead of validation through likes and comments.
  2. Once you get rolling, it gets less and less hard every
day. I’m really starting to feel it now. I’ve pumped out this post in 25 minutes. In the beginning, it took me 2+ hours to write a new blog post.
  3. (experimenting with this right now) write multiple posts
at the same time, you’re in the zone to cross-pollinate posts and ideas to make them more interesting and exciting.
  4. Long posts (500+ words) do not work for me.
Because people read on their phones, and the longer an article gets, the shittier it is to read.
  5. Posts that are multiple parts don’t work either (for
me). People don’t care for related posts or follow-up posts, they want all the info now, and they want it short and sweet.
  6. The time of posting is essential for engagement. Post when you know your reader is actively scrolling your blog and in the mood to engage with the things you write. I’m still searching for my best time to be very honest.
  7. Titles are everything, but they are also tough to construct. Some of the top billers spend 50% of their time working on the title. At least that’s what’s being said on the writer’s section of Reddit… I can’t handle that.
  8. WordPress is excellent for scheduling your
    posts in advance.
  9. Don’t flood the feed of your followers with too much new content
My posts did best when I only posted one original post a week and nothing else. I’m trying to stick with that for the entire year.
  10. Data is essential, but it’s just no fun to look at when you’re starting. Established online writers tell you that you need to look at your data, I know it’s essential, but I want to write what I want to write about for the time being.

More lessons to come in the coming weeks.
