I sometimes wonder if I’m the only one who feels they mastered a skill or a lifestyle within weeks instead of decades.

For me, currently, that expresses itself in that I find myself an incredible athlete. I see myself as the Dutch version of Nick Bare.

It’s so strange because there is no tangible or factual proof that I’m even close to a % of what he is, stands for or how he lives.

He has the stamina, the physice and the accolades to call himself a try hybrid athlete.

Me?

I’m seriously nobody compared to him, but in a strange way, I already feel incredibly accomplished while running a 12-minute pace mile on my run today.

Maybe it’s just because running makes you more confident and happy overall. Or maybe it’s because I lack proper discipline and start fooling myself into thinking I’m better than I am.

It’s hard to say where the overconfidence comes from, but I’m writing it down because I’d like to take note of it.

Plus, I know this confidence won’t hurt me as long as I don’t take it too far, over-train, and start running a Nick Bare pace suddenly.

In fact, I suspect that this newfound confidence might help me when I’m considering the “Act like it and you become” principle.

The principle states that when you want to become something or someone, you need to act like such a person.

If you want to be rich, you have to act rich and feel rich. You shouldn’t sweat the small stuff, and you should care primarily about spending your time wisely and investing, caring about assets and wealth creation.

The same goes for becoming fit. If you want to be fit, you need to act as fit people do, which means going to the gym 4x a week, eating clean, and not going out and drinking your face two times at the weekend.

And mentally, it means that if you have big dreams, you need to think big and make big moves.

Or at least understand that big things need to happen to get where you’re going.

Talking about big moves, with running, it’s different.

There are no lateral moves with running. It’s only slight progressions week by week, month over month. That’s how it is, and I’m very much enjoying that.

The results creep in slowly, but I mind that less than before.

As long as I keep my mind straight and don’t sweat the slow stuff, things will be all well and dandy.

That’s it, folks.
Have a dodgy one, and I will see you on the flip side.

Hastlafista baby!
