How to easily embed any widget into the Notion App

At this moment in time, the only way to get a widget to work in the Notion App is by using a simple workaround. This workaround is quick and dirty, so you’ll be able to install any widget within your Notion wiki, notion templates or any page you desire.

After you’ve completed the steps below, your Notion Dashboard or life wiki will look something like this:

Above you see my personal notion cockpit. I use this personal dashboard every day, and I think I look at it 100+ times a day. This notion Life Wiki/Dashboard has made me three times more effective in 1) sourcing/collecting my ideas and thoughts, 2) in my job finally 3) in managing my life. I would recommend the Notion app to everyone.

As you can see at the top, I’ve implemented three awesome widgets: 1) the stock ticker, 2) the quote of the day and finally, the weather widget.

I can add more, and maybe I will do so in the future, but this is enough widgets in my notion cockpit for now.

Below I will guide you through the steps to get all of these widgets working in Notion.
Hopefully, you’ll learn quickly, and after implementing these Notion Widgets, you’ll be able to implement any widget into your Notion pages yourself. Good luck!

Get the stock ticker widget

Some people find this stock ticker widget distracting, but I beg to differ.
I like to keep an eye on the economic pulse of the world, and this is my way of doing it. As an entrepreneur, I think it’s essential to feel for the macro in the world. This gives me a clear view of how things are moving in the world. And like anything that you see ofter, you get used to moving parts and flashy things. So follow the steps below to implement this stock ticker widget on your notion page.

Step One
Click on this link, and you will be brought to the Free Stock Charts and stock ticket website of tradingview.com. Then, you choose a stick widget of your liking at this site and click on the white button that says: Get Widget.

Step two
Scroll down on the widget page until you see the HTML code at the bottom of the page. Then, copy all the code using cmd+c or ctrl+c. We will use this code to get the Widget up and running.

Step three
We will need to convert this code into a link that we can embed into Notion to make the widget work. So go to the htmlsave.com website and paste in the HTML code you’ve copied from the previous website.
Make sure to copy all of the widget code. When you miss one symbol, the notion widget will not work. Now click on submit to save button.

You will be asked to create an account. I’ve used a burner email account to access these types of things quickly. You can choose to do whatever you want, but you will only be able to embed the Widget after you’ve signed up. Once you’ve signed up, you will be able to get the link.
But remember, you will only convert five pieces of code into a link. So choose your widgets wisely!

Step Four
Copy the link, and now you can embed it into Notion using the /embed command in Notion. At this point, the Widget should work. Good luck.

Get the quote of the day widget

This is one of my favourite widgets, and I look at it every day, and I learn something new every day. It’s very inspiring.

Step five
Click on this link to go to Kwize.com. On this page, you will see a box with HTML code. Please copy the code and follow the same process from steps three and four that I showed you for the previous Widget. It works the same.

Put the code into the input field on the htmlsave.com site, and press submit to save to get the link to use.

After you’ve got the link, you can now embed it using the /embed function in Notion.

Get the Weather Widget

And finally, we have a very functional notion widget that I look at every morning after sitting down behind my laptop to go to work. Again, this Widget is easy to implement like the other two Notion widgets.

Step Five
Click here to go to the page where you can copy the weather widget.
Once you are on the page, click on the blue GET CODE button, showing you a piece of HTML code. Copy this HTML code.

Now, follow the steps above from step three, and you’ll be able to add in the weather widget quickly. Again, like the other widgets, this is super easy to do.

Hopefully, these steps displayed above were helpful to you.

  1. I am having trouble with the hosting of my weather widget. I made mine through weatherwidget.io and hosted it through htmlsave.com as per your recommendation. It works beautifully initially but after a day I get a 404 error. Can you please advise?
