You will only stick to a morning routine when it’s simple and when it takes you very little additional energy.
With this fact in mind, I constructed the perfect energy preserving routine that perfectly fits into the way you already do your mornings.
The only way to wake up
The Sleep cycle app decides for me when I wake up. I never snooze. Snoozing fucks me up. After waking up, sit straight up and gulp down a cold litre of water. I use the Hidrate Spark ‘smart water bottle’ for this.
Going through my notes.
I have a note-taking folder in Notion named Master Notes, my only note-taking folder in Notion. I use it for everything. For example, after waking up, I will go through my notes and read some random notes for ideas that I can subconsciously bake on during the day.
Write while on the toilet.
I shit right after I’m done with scrolling my notes. I’m writing every night after work to flush my brain of ideas, so I pick a topic from my Master Notes and jot down some bullet ideas. Sometimes I’m full of ideas, and sometimes nothing interesting comes to me, and that’s okay.
Visualize while showering.
Next to cleaning myself in the shower, I visualize how I want my life to be in the next 5 to 10 years. It’s fun to do and always gives me a happy feeling when stepping out of the shower.
Dress, eat and meditate.
I get dressed and eat the same meal every day: eggs and bacon. No carbs and no sugars. I’ve found this combo to be the best combination of tasty and healthy since the meal won’t spike my insulin levels and keep energy constant during the morning.
Finally, before I’m off to work, I meditate for a minimum of 5 minutes. I need this quiet moment to calibrate my mind for focus.
I flush my mental plumbing when I do this.
It’s great, you should try it.
This routine has helped me build multiple successful businesses and be as productive as possible with minimal effort and energy wastage.
Only the reading in bed and 5-10 minutes of meditation cost me extra time.
It’s quick and dirty, just how I like it.
